Before a student selects a book and takes a Reading Practice Quiz, the student needs to know his/her ZPD or just-right reading range. The Zone of Proximal Development is used to help guide a student in selecting a book at the appropriate book level.
Book Level
Represents the difficulty of the text and is determined using an ATOS readability formula. It take into account the:

Interest Level
Based on the sophistication and maturity level of the book's themes and content and it provides a suggested grade range for which the book is appropriate. Book level and interest level should be considered together during the book selection process.

Points
Based on the difficulty of the text and the length of the book (number of words). Students only earn points for Reading Practice Quizzes. Full, partial or no points may be earned. 3 Question Quiz: Requires a score of 2 out of 3 in order to receive a percentage of the .5 point allocation. 5 & 10 Question Quizzes: Requires a minimum reading comprehension score of 60% to begin earning a percentage of the points. 20 Question Quiz: Requires a minimum comprehension score of 70% to begin earning points.
